Inaugural Joint Revenue Committe Meeting

Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) held an inaugural Joint State Revenue Committee Meeting today 13th February, 2018 in Uyo.

The meeting is in furtherance of the Board’s efforts at boosting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the State.
Issues discussed during the meeting among others were; harmonization of taxes, collaboration among tax authorities, sharing of tax information, sharing of facilities both physical infrastructure and E- infrastructure, blocking of leakages, Voluntary Asset and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS), operating within the ambit of the laws and rules and updates on Joint Tax Bodies (JTB) efforts on harmonization.

Cletus Ekpo, Local Government Chaimen, State Coordinator, Federal Inland Revenue Service – (ABC States) Akwa Ibom, Bayels and Cross River State – Mr Bennet Agu, Executive Director s of AKIRS – Elder Nse Atang and Mr Leo Umana, The Board Secretary – Mrs Ikemesit Ekpro, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs – Mrs Ime Akpan, Mrs Mary Ekaette representing the Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Finance and Management Staff of AKIRS
